a landscape we had to do for a project. Used some different photo reff, chose what i liked and did the composition myself. made a lot of it up. i don't find it a dark illustration or a depressing image. i find it calming and peaceful... maybe a bit sad but not as dark as some people have said, but that's just me. pen, ink and dry brush.
Graveyards can be really calming places, and this picture doesn't seem all that menacing. Looks like somewhere you'd go on a stroll
The tree and crows look great, but the darkness pulls em forward a bit much. The gravestone in the right foreground looks a little small mixed with this. I might be wrong though. Just my 2 cents.
The seraphim look fantastic, as well as the overall graveyard feel.
God, your rendering of stone is gorgeous. Nice job with the dry brush, it looks excellent. I love the feel of this picture. The birds make it feel very free and yeah, it's calming. Beautiful.
