I think your art teacher is trippin. Unless he/she wanted a still life then... But really, this is very good. First off, you have a nice range of values. I love how much contrast you have between the foreground and back ground. Secondly, I like how you've used the picture plane as well. I'm not at all bothered by the white area up top. It's like those vampires (gosh, I hope they are that) are coming from a thick fog. And lastly, the composition is very nice. My eye moves easily from his head to hand to stick. Well done.
